This smell is not for me

I think the shampoo itself is actually quite good. I have long hair, so I usually need a lot of product to get everything fully lathered, but with this one I was surprised — I only need a tiny amount, and it foams up beautifully. It cleans my hair really well without making it feel dry or stripped, and the results look great. The only issue, and unfortunately it’s a big one for me, is the fragrance. I’ve used other shampoos, conditioners, and masks from OUAI before, and they all smelled amazing on me. But this scent is… just not it. It’s not mildly unpleasant — it genuinely bothers me, and I don’t know why. What makes it worse is that the smell reminds me of the OUAI shampoo I use for my pets. It’s almost the exact same scent. So after I wash my hair, I literally feel like I smell like a wet dog. I know it sounds dramatic, but that’s exactly how it hits my nose. Because of this fragrance alone, even though I like how the shampoo performs, I won’t be continuing to use it.

Ouai Medium Hair Shampoo has officially earned a permanent spot in my shower—I’m on my second bottle and still obsessed. The scent is luxurious but not overpowering, and it leaves my hair soft, clean, and perfectly balanced without weighing it down. My hair feels healthier every wash.

I had previously known Ouai for its excellent hair care products; like their oils and those delicious scents in their perfumes and body mists; but this is my first time using one of their shampoos, and I loved its formulation. I really appreciate that it includes a blend of oils such as babassu and coconut, which is exactly what my hair needs to stay hydrated, shiny, and soft. The texture is very pleasant; when applied to the scalp it creates a rich, comfortable lather, and after rinsing it doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry. Still, since my hair tends to be dry and fragile, I always prefer to follow up with a conditioner for even better results. After washing and drying, my hair felt incredibly soft, clean, shiny, and full of movement. And best of all, it has a delicious scent that lasts for hours. I love how easy it is to incorporate into my routine, and even more that it truly provides nutrients to my hair. I totally recommend it.
