Holy grail moisturiser

I am so surprised by the number of negative reviews and now quite worried that these may prompt Clinique to discontinue this or change the formula. My skin cannot tolerate stand-alone SPF (always causes massive breakouts - I've tried them all and it's bad enough that I'd really rather not use SPF and risk the sun damage than be eternally spotty) so I was excited to find an intensive moisturiser with such a high level of SPF included. This is very hydrating and my skin just drinks it up and it has never caused irritation or spots on my acne-prone, dry, sensitive skin. I can only think those who find it pills must not need such intensive hydration or may be combining it with incompatible products (not everything layers well). This hydrates my skin so well that my makeup sits nicely over the top without going dry and cracked and making me look haggard which can happen with other moisturisers. I use much more expensive skincare for the rest of my routine but I love this will keep buying this as long as they keep making it!

I have soo many compliments when using this product as it leaves your skin glowing. Its so pretty. Everyone always asks what im using. Best product.

Not like the Clinque I Know

Bought this Last week quite excited . Been using Clinique for over 25 years . There is something not quite right. First of all, I broke out in rash on my face and it does not leave your skin soft and supple . Face seems as if you have on a film you need to peel off . I could wash that off at home but the rash it took about 4 days to clear . My worst buy so far . Something is just not right

Excellent sun defense

I was very surprised to read all the negative reviews on this product. I used this product when I went to South Africa and again skiing in Italy, where the temperature reached 20∫. It was excellent. I only used it in the morning and the sun screen protected my face all day. My face felt soft and smooth at the end of the day. I also use this product when riding my bike. Possible it would be too strong for using as a 'normal day at the office' so on a day when I'm only outside for an hour or so I use the spf25. I'm 72 and get many complements on my skin. I'm probably wrong but I do think mixing and matching the products to weather and activities is why I get on so well with these products. Hope my thoughts help

Superlight and no irritations on skin and eyes

Super light with a mild glow. No irritation on skin and eyes from sun filter. Highly recommended

The only moisturiser I have stuck with!

Love this product, it is so light when on and soaks into the skin nicely. Skin dries soft and cool, doesn't stay sticky or clammy. Some moisturisers I have previously tried I have to stop using at certain times a month or I will break out but not with this, it helps dry patches and genuinely feels nice. I previously bought the cream version by mistake and there is a massive difference I ended up placing another order and giving the cream away. 100% recommend.

I can't believe the difference in my skin

As others have said, I am so glad I didn't read the reviews before buying this, as it probably would have stopped me. I previously used moisture surge but was looking for something with SPF in it. I nearly bought the SPF moisture surge but decided to go for the higher SPF as we head into summer. It has made a huge difference to my acne prone skin. It doesn't feel heavy at all and I can't feel it on my skin after it's settled. It works well with my foundation too. I love it and would definitely recommend it.

I Like It.

People seem to moan about this product, I don't know why. I use it each day. It is a bit thick to go on, as are most SPF 40 products (like sun cream) but it gives me a glow and as one friend (same age) said at dinner recently 'where are your wrinkles?'. I see this as the proper version of the products. It's more expensive, but, buy cheap, buy twice. A lot of these other reviews poo-poo it. I think this is because it is quite a heavy gel, and if you had to put on a load of make ups after, yeah I can see it feeling heavy or whatever the less the favourable reviews say. But, as a man, if I was a woman, putting on an SPF 40 cream each day, I wouldn't expect my make up to take? Isn't that just common sense? -Don't all hate me at once- I find this moisturiser works best once I've used the exfoliating liquid and a serum. Ignore the nay-sayers. Fellas (and gals), it's like the cheaper ones, but so much better. Use it for a week and see how many people say you've a lovely glow.

Sticky and Horrible film

I was hoping this would be ideal with SPF 40. However, the gel leaves a film on my face that rubs off in bits during the day. This is not a silky gel and it has made no difference in spite of trying to persevere with it, very disappointing and a waste of money. I now need to find something else but now have limited funds.

Awful stuff! Burnt and covered in spots!

This Stuff is dreadful! One day wearing this and I was burnt and covered in spots! By day 2 I had burnt red patches on several parts of my face so the sunscreen is completely ineffective as such and added to that I ended up looking like a spotty teenager. Absolutely not amused. Total waste of money. It is also sticky and doesn't absorb and feels very uncomfortable on your skin. I used to have the even better SPF25 correcting lotion in the white bottle which was fab stuff but someone, in their lack of wisdom, decided to discontinue it. thankfully I had some left and after 2 days with that on, no longer had spots or burnt patches. Clinique please get rid of the dreadful stuff and bring back to SPF25 even better lotion!

Gloopy and doesn't moisturise

I have used superdefense as my "go to" moisturiser for years and was worried about the formulation change but willing to give it a try. I won't be using it again - as others have said, it sits on the surface of my skin, leaves an unattractive shine and feels tacky after application. It sits there all day, possibly helping with the sun rays but not moisturising and definitely not feeling nice. The hunt is on for a replacement

Doesn't absorb

I bought this as I wanted an SPF moisturiser but it's terrible. It doesn't absorb and pills when you put foundation over it. My skin looks greasy with it on but is some how dry by the end of the day leaving patches. I love Clinique products and this is the first time I've been disappointed. Don't recommend at all.
